I have nothing useful to add except that I read this and its sequel a few months ago (I am a sucker for an epistolary novel, be it a historic travelogue or a teen diary) and found it both absolutely delightful and a bittersweet reminder about why I changed course away from academia all those years ago. Oh the snark I could have snarked!
Yea I totally understand this, Esti. I happen to be very lucky with my job. I get to teach the kinds of things I would have wanted or expected to teach. And, since we're not a tenure institution, I am kind of freed up to do the kinds of writing and research that I want, outside of traditional academic promotional structures. We're kind of a part of academia, but really at the margins of it, which is liberating. I do realize how lucky I am. And I have been working on excising snark from my system.
I love that you found such a perfect version of the job! I have no regrets about switching and honestly I probably should have thought of going to library school way earlier than I did, since I am almost comically well-suited to it. But in the sliding doors version of my life I like to think I found a way to teach and write!

I love the "sliding doors" reference here!
